Electricians in PapakuraWhere two lines companies meet.

Papakura is where Vector's network ends and Counties Energy's begins, so the first question for any power problem here is which one you're on. The second is what kind of house you have: an old army home, a 1920s house or a new build in one of Auckland's fastest growing areas. We'll match your job with one licence-checked electrician who handles it in Papakura.

Papakura in short

Two lines companies

Vector says its lines run from Wellsford to Papakura. Counties Energy says its network starts at southern Papakura. If you're near the edge, check the ENA lines company map or your power bill.

An 1853 town

The street layout dates from the 1853 subdivision. The town flourished in the 1920s and became a borough in 1938.

Army homes

Papakura Military Camp opened in 1939. Houses near the base were Army homes and are now private, and in the 2010s much of the base became new housing.

Fast growth

Occupied dwellings in the Papakura board rose 26.4% from 2018 to 2023, the second-highest growth in Auckland, and Drury more than doubled.

Rentals

In 2023, 40.4% of Papakura board households paid rent.

Which lines company are you on?

It matters for outages and new connections. Vector's outage line is 0508 VECTOR (0508 832 867). Counties Energy takes reports on 0800 100 202 or through its Outage Hub. Your power bill shows your ICP number, and the ENA map shows the lines company for your address.

New homes and old ones

In newer streets and the old base, the jobs are EV chargers, outdoor power and extra circuits. In older houses, check the board: rewireable fuses or no RCDs mean a switchboard upgrade is due. For a heat pump or charger in a newer home, ask the electrician to confirm the board has spare capacity first.

What we'd do first in Papakura

We'd look up our ICP and lines company before anything goes wrong, and save the outage number in our phones. In a boundary suburb, it saves ringing the wrong company in the dark.

Questions

Straight answers.

How do I know if I am on Vector or Counties Energy?

Check your power bill or use the ENA lines company map with your address. If you're near the boundary, check with both.

Do I need a certificate for an EV charger?

Yes. A charger on a new circuit is general work, so you'll get a Certificate of Compliance and an Electrical Safety Certificate.
