What each listing will show
- The business name and its NZBN.
- Each person's registration class, such as Electrician or Electrical Inspector, and their registration number so you can look them up.
- The suburbs and towns they cover.
- The kinds of job they do week in, week out, and the evidence we saw for each.
- When we last checked their practising licence and insurance.
Why isn't this a list to scroll through?
Because a list hands the sorting back to you. We match on the kind of job first and the area second, and your job goes to one electrician who does that work, not to everyone on a page.
If you'd rather choose for yourself, the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) runs a public register you can search by name, town or city, licence type, registration class or registration number.
Checking any electrician yourself
Every licensed electrical worker has a licence ID, as a card or a digital licence. It shows their photo, class, registration number and expiry date, and a digital one has a QR code that opens their profile on the public register.
The register confirms the licence is current, shows its history, and tells you whether the person has been disciplined in the last three years. How to check an electrician's licence walks through it step by step.
Are you an electrician?
